One of the first planned communities in Florida, Miami Springs is steeped in history but located in the “heart of it all” and was founded in 1926 by aviation pioneer, inventor and land developer, Glenn H. Curtiss, who has been deemed “The Father of Naval Aviation”. This quaint Miami bedroom community lies alongside Miami International Airport and is home to famous landmark, the restored Curtiss Mansion. Many of the homes and buildings of Miami Springs were built in the Pueblo Revival architectural style of the Curtiss Mansion or the Mission style. Miami Springs is also home to the Miami Springs Golf and Country Club, an 18-hole course that hosted the Miami Open for 30 years.
Single-family homes make up the majority of residences here with 30% classified as high rise or apartment complexes. Sixty-six percent of homes were built in the 1940’s to 1960’s and are predominantly capes and ranches, however the city is home to new construction as well so buyers or investors searching for classic to contemporary home styles will find options in Miami Springs.
