Miami Springs

One of the first planned communities in Florida, Miami Springs is steeped in history but located in the “heart of it all” and was founded in 1926 by aviation pioneer, inventor and land developer, Glenn H. Curtiss, who has been deemed “The Father of Naval Aviation”. This quaint Miami bedroom community lies alongside Miami International Airport and is home to famous landmark, the restored Curtiss Mansion. Many of the homes and buildings of Miami Springs were built in the Pueblo Revival architectural style of the Curtiss Mansion or the Mission style. History buffs will enjoy the many sites along Curtiss Parkway, while anyone interested in aviation can learn all about the area’s famed aviation history at the Miami Springs Historical Society museum. Miami Springs is also home to the Miami Springs Golf and Country Club, an 18-hole course that hosted the Miami Open for 30 years.
