Learn more about Pinecrest
Just eight square miles of beautiful, upscale homes, the Village of Pinecrest was incorporated in 1996 and has steadily grown into one of the most desirable neighborhoods in greater Miami. Named as one of the ‘ten best places in Florida for quality of life’ by the South Florida Business Journal, Pinecrest has also been recognized as Tree City USA, and has been designated as both a Community of Respect and a Playful City USA. Originally a staging area for the construction of the Overseas Railroad to the Florida Keys, Pinecrest began growing and evolving around Parrot Jungle and Gardens, one of the first South Florida tourist attractions in South Florida, in the 1930’s. As the community flourished, it became known as a lush, landscaped neighborhood and retains that character today with many parks, bike paths and popular outdoor spaces and its’ crown jewel, Pinecrest Gardens home to more than 1,000 varieties of exotic trees and tropical plants.
With a population of just over 19,000 residents, Pinecrest is ethnically diverse and a wonderful community for families with children. Highly rated public schools, family-oriented community events and services and a lower crime rate than the US average all combine to make Pinecrest a desirable place to raise a family. Homes in Pinecrest are large, single-family homes of which 77% are owned. Many homes have four, five or more bedrooms, giving Pinecrest the unique distinction of having more 4-plus bedroom homes than 98% of any other community in America.
